Subject: Rusted Memories

A relic
... should be lost in a dark corner,
of some forgotten museum.
Yet, it stands still,
a ghost,
... a phantom of another time,
when the world revelled in simpler things,
... a soft tune,
a grateful smile,
an unselfish act.
To see it there
with the memories it revives,
makes me long so for that other time.

But nothing can relive the past.
Time rolls on in its godlike way.
No amount of care and prayer,
can embellish it now.
So, I resolve myself to its being,
this rusted machine,
that I call my car.
