Led by curiosity
gliding with grace
the child follows a vibrant being
alone in the mid-summer garden

A lofty flutter...
then settling once again,
the child's toppling intrigue
takes her closer still

Inches away
holding air
fast in her chest
she sees...

a wonder to the eye
soft and beautiful
tiny velvet hairs
colored more by the sun

Glistening
transforming
the green
to blue

Overwhelmed,
a tiny hand
gently reaches
touching the delicate wing

A powdery tattoo
shows on her finger...
evidence
of nature's wonder
