The Sword In The Stone.

Tomorrow I will be roaming
your battlefields again
as your brave knight
in shining armor,
fighting whichever fierce demon
you call to the surface
from the devilish moors
in the twilight zone
of your mutilated subconscious.

What you don't know is
that I'm scared to death
for the fields of terror,
with their obnoxious smell
of rotting corpses from
former opponents,
decapitated,
crushed,
smashed and
stabbed in the heart.

Terrifying to see how
your numerous numb alter egos
perform their petrifying miracles,
resurrecting the defeated,
trying to discourage me,
convincing me to leave you
at the mercy of their
twisted sanity.

Yet, there is a force in me
that won't let me give in,
a strength of unknown might,
almost divine,
that quenches me when I'm thirsty,
feeds me when I'm hungry,
gives me rest when I'm tired,
heals me when I'm wounded
and embraces me at times
you don't trust me.

It's the Light that travels through me
and accompanies me ever since
I faced the Sword that was
thrust into the Stone.

It's grip engraved reads "Excalibur"
and protected by the Shield of Faith
it arms me with a cleaving power,
rapidly spreading angst and fear
amongst the once so
mighty demons of terror,
awaiting in ambush
in the moors of your insanity.
