Dampened By Tears
A heart always yearns for knowing:
feeling the need to understand
why flowers bloom with such abandon,
splashing wild colours everywhere,
releasing fragrances derived of love,
painting nature's self-portrait in spring.
As one sadly wonders why
this living presence cannot be held forever
in the heart,
a soft voice whispers in the wind:
"when ego controls your mind,
you only feel sadness and loss
and time weighs as lead
upon your memory:
just let your ego perish
so I may gently caress your spirit,
cleansing you of sorrow
with a cloth dampened
by a mother's tears ."
