Mihin muuten yleensä eniten kiinnitetään huomiota, kun valitaan jalostukseen uros tai naaras. Täällä Suomen oloissa?

Huomita pitäisi kiinnittää eritoten metsästysominaisuuksiin ja tietenkin myös rodunomaiseen ulkomuotoon. Vastuulliset kasvattajat tekevätkin näin, mutta onhan niitäkin, jotka eivät.
Onneksemme olemme saaneet nyt metsästyskokeet, jolla voidaan testata jokaisen koiran rodunomaisia ominaisuuksia. Koiransa taipumuksia työskentelyyn voi jokainen käydä kokeilemassa keinoluolalla, mutta tämä ei vielä anna mitään takuita koiran toiminnasta luonnonluolalla.
Tietenkin kannattaa myös hyödyntää yhdistyksen näyttelyitä, joista saa hyvän arvion koiran rotumääritelmän mukaisesta ulkomuodosta.
