This poor fellow works so hard on his Christian lifestyle, but just doesn't seem to be getting a break he deserves. So he came to me and told me his sad story.

"Man, I read books on the characters of God written by every Christian author. I have practiced everything I learned about discipline. I pray five times a day, fifteen minutes each. At 0700 I give thanks for everything on the list I wrote the previous day. At 1100 I pray for people who needs prayers -- I divided 15 by the number of people so that all of them get equal time. At 1500 I pray for (and in the order of) my family, my community, my church, my country, and the world. At 1900 I pray for Christians I know whom live wild lives and for my enemies: heathens, liberals and homosexuals. At 2300 I pray for the things I need to get done that I have listed during the course of the day. I read one chapter and memorize its theme verse every week day. I fast from Friday 5 pm to Saturday 5 pm. I listen to nothing but Christian music. My car radio presets only to Christian stations. I see Crystal Cathedral and Coral Ridge on TV every week. I serve on the board, teach Sunday school, counsel the youth, lead the choir and sing on worship team. I give one tenth of my imcome -- before tax -- to the church. I have done everything I can think of for God!"

Then he buried his face in his palms and took a deep sigh, "But it is still not good enough for God. He still wants to be my one and only. He still wants me to give up whatever little I have saved up for my other devotions."
