Subject: Samuel L. Jackson.

Just something which occurs to me whenever Samuel L. Jackson's name is mentioned, but can you imagine how a director feels after they've signed Samuel L. Jackson?

"We've got Jackson? Jackson! Have the script rewritten and put in seventy-two 'motherfuckers' at once!"

That's why the Star Wars prequels failed, you know. Can you imagine how much better The Phantom Menace would've been had Mace Windu said (about Anakin), "You believe that little motherfucker's going to bring balance to the Force?"

It's actually become his trademark. I recall years ago, a neighbor came over after seeing Jackie Brown and told me that the movie was just so-so, but nobody said "motherfucker" like Samuel L. Jackson.

He was right.
