OK, I'm going back over 3 months here, but too bad.

IRON MAN
I loved it. Just a terrific movie. Robert Downey, Jr. is absolutely awesome. Every moment he wasn't on the screen had me fidgeting in my seat. I wanted to see what he would do or say next. I got the heads up to sit through the credits and wasn't disappointed.

SPEED RACER
Just too much going on. I can see what the Matrix guys were trying to do here, replicate the feel and look of the cartoon on the big screen, but it fell short. There are some good race sequences in this movie.

INDIANA JONES IV
I love the Indiana Jones character so much - Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite movie of all-time - so I probably let my passion for the franchise cloud my opinion a little bit. I liked the movie. There were enough Indy moments to keep me entertained and Shia didn't bother me. That being said, George Lucas needs to stop making movies and just concentrate on effects. You can see his influence on certain scenes and they are not good - (Mutt and monkeys swinging). Also, no matter what your religious beliefs might be, most can agree that items like the Ark and the cup of Christ existed, whether or not they held some kind of God-like power. The point is, these items are ground in reality as a part of history. The storyline of this film veers from that to a point of almost unbelievability.

SEX AND THE CITY
Clocking in at almost 2-and-a-half hours, this movie was made for fans of the show. Luckily, I am a fan of the show and I liked it. I didn't feel like I was watching a 150-minute movie, but I'm sure the running time bothered some.

KUNG FU PANDA
Very cute and enjoyable. Jack Black is excellent as the main voice. The other voices, particuarly Seth Rogen and David Cross are wasted. Still, good for kids and adults.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK
Good film. Better than Ang Lee's version, in my opinion. I really like Edward Norton, but I just wish he would have appeared to have a better time making this picture. I understand the Hulk's backstory and all, but Norton just seems so tortured, like it was a painstaking process just to make this film. It's a comic book movie - have FUN.

GET SMART
If you laughed at the funny parts in the trailer, then you've seen almost all of the funny parts in this movie. I really like Steve Carell and he's good. Dewayne Johnson is OK. Anne Hathaway steals the show and is surprisingly sexy.

WALL-E
Another great movie from Pixar.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH
I did not see this in 3-D, but I doubt if I did that it would make me like this film. I kept waiting for Brendan Fraser as Rick O'Connell and he didn't show up. It's geared towards families, so you know nothing bad is going to happen, which eliminates any real suspense. When a movie is over, you shouldn't be asking yourself so many questions about how and why. Blah.

HELLBOY 2
I liked it. I wish they would let the Hellboy character loose and not reign him in so much. He's best when he's being a potty-mouthed jerk. Ron Perlman is excellent as Hellboy and I would see another one if they make it.

THE DARK KNIGHT
Best movie of the summer. I caught the 12:01 showing and even when it ended at 2:45 AM I was left wanting more. I had heard so many good things about Heath Ledger, but you have to see this movie to really capture and appreciate his performance. He overshadows Aaron Eckhardt, which is a shame, because he gives a great turn as Harvey Dent. Every character is given something important to do and it all weaves together. I only wish Katie Holmes would have been Rachel Dawes again so...SPOILER...I could have seen her die.

MUMMY 3
I just saw this and I'm not sure which way I'm leaning yet. The addition of the son was off-putting. Not a strong character and why was he needed anyway? He just took time away from Brendan Fraser. Maria Bello taking over for Rachel Weisz was no big deal. Another movie where all of the best lines are in the previews.

STEP BROTHERS
Yow. Can I get my money back? I mean I did laugh a couple of times, but jees. I just wanted it to end. I know teenagers that really liked this, but I didn't. This movie seems like they had several ideas or skits, improved them and then slapped them together. I don't like how they think just saying the F-word is supposed to be funny. Hey look - Mary Steenburgen is saying the F-word, isn't that funny? Uh...no. Let's hope Ferrell makes Anchorman 2 a lot funnier and more entertaining than this.
