Subject: Your favorite Paul Newman film

Truth be told, checking out his filmography on IMDB, it became pretty obvious that I haven't seen a lot of Paul Newman movies and even more annoying, I haven't seen a lot of his famous ones. I've seen parts of The Sting, but never the whole thing and it's the same with Slap Shot which is one of the films I've even rented on multiple occasions, only to return it to the store unwatched because things came up where I couldn't watch it.

I really like the Color of Money, but something tells me I'd enjoy it more had I seen the Sting. I absolutely love Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Sure, it's a western on the surface, but it is definitely one of the classic buddy flicks and both he and Redford shine.

But I'll go with one of the obvious picks - Cool Hand Luke. There is just something about his performance in that film. At different points I wanted to cheer Luke, slap Luke, hate Luke, laugh at Luke, cry for Luke. Newman just plays Luke in such a tricky way. It's a fine line to play a guy who's sort of a prick, but still make him someone you like and feel sorry for at the same time.
