I think I've finally gone full-bore cynical about the Star Wars franchise. It's probably the sight of Darth Vader working at Burger King in a commercial that did it.

Lucas has done such a piss poor job of establishing any characters that the audience can care about, that I just don't see how Revenge of the Shi...excuse me, Sith, can possibly be a good movie. I have no doubt it will have some enjoyable moments, but hell, so did the other two. But Anakin is just a deadly dull protagonist, and the rest of the characters are little better. Things like the appearance of Chewbacca are an obviously desperate attempt to win back the loyalty of hardcore Star War fans, while General Grievous is an equally desperate attempt to recreate the magic of cool badass characters like Boba Fett.

The previous two prequels (has there EVER been a good prequel?) are utterly mechanical exercises in special effects style over humanity or substance, and I can't bring myself to believe that the third one will be anything but more of the same.
