Basil is fine, I have huge bushes of it(perenial ones) and give them every 2-3 days. It also eliminates any odours coming from birds.
Parsley, on the other hand, can be given but not as often. It is not toxic, but makes birds pupils to open wide ( similar to drug effect) and it can cause the sunburn of the inside of the eye, or damage to the nerve. Its called photo- sensitivity (not 100% sure). I give parsley once a fortnight.
Oregano has similar affect, while all the other herbs ( cooking) can be used safely.
Garlic contains alcaloids and its effect on birds is not researched yet.
Chives are, along with the basil, my birds favorites.
