In combat it was quite normal for spits and hurricanes to get involved with bombers and fighters. The situation in combat is often a confused one which doesnt allow for such an organized response as the one you describe. Read Douglas Baders book "reach for the Sky", or Al Deeres book ( Iforget the name of it). As far as the movie goes the spits they showed were more like Mark IXs circa 1942 then the all machine gun Mark1 and MarkIIs used in the battle of Britain......summer 1940. Allin all it was a cool scene and I hope the do another film dedicated to the Battle of Britain using todays technology.
