Can it possibly be that Mr. Watkins does not know that we signed NAFTA without having a definition of "subsidy" in place.......just a crucial little detail with which the US has whipped us back and forth. We are also subject to their trade law, which they can, and do, change at will. You may counter that so can we, but mice have a hard time enforcing rules on elephants. Just how many times do we have to win before they will concede?

I guess you only skimmed the previous postings, since Mr. Moors was answering a charge that he was "obsessed with Chapter 11", so your accusation of his using loaded words rhetorically was misdirected. Perhaps you've also misapprehended Mr. Orchard's thinking on canceling NAFTA. I've never heard him say anything except do it NOW, since it will take us 19 years to get out of the energy contracts. We have to supply the US with 62% of our production...that's the proportion flowing south now. If they take a greater percentage in the future, we are bound to that level at cancelation

Anyone environmentaly concerned should be worried about making a total desert of Alberta by using 12 gallons of water for every gallon of oil extracted from the tar sands and also using irreplacable water to keep up the pressure in oil wells. Watch any car commercial...have you seen one that even mentions fuel economy?

Solutions to our present problems could be found if vested interests would stop interfering. Multinationals owe nothing to the countries they play off against each other, and now the executives running them seem to owe no allegiance to their stockholders either. Somehow, I think the first rule for anybody, let alone a conservative, is to not allow one's pockets to be picked...or one's resources to be plundered.
