Well folks, Bush's rhetoric scared me and his unilateral move into Iraq terrified me. But that doesn't hold a candle to the American Enterprise Institute breakfast which apparently concluded as follows:

"With a few words of caution - that the war to oust Saddam Hussein was not yet over - the panel of speakers, part of the Bush administration's ideological vanguard, set out their bold vision of the postwar agenda:
radical reform of the UN,
regime change in Iran and Syria, and
"containment" of France and Germany.

Radical reform of the UN can only mean a United Nations that is a reliable extension of US foreign policy.

Regime changes in Iran and Syria means that it never was about Saddam or WMD. Instead it's about the US dominating the middle east because now they can get away with it.

Finally, I shudder to think what "containment of France and Germany" means. I guess you're only an ally of the US until you do something that it didn't give you permission to do, then you're open to being contained.

That sure is a comforting thought for a true Canadian isn't it?

Garnet
