Subject: Bush IS indeed a Republican of the McKinley stripe

Sirs,
It's very easy and a bit dissembling to redefine Bush II's political allegiances as something other than being a "real" Repubican.

I suggest that you read Kevin Phillips's book, "An American Dynasty," subtitled "Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush." Phillips is no Michael Moore, and has been a Republican strategist.

He notes that over 4 generations, the Bush family has solidified its place in the American establishment--at Yale, on Wall Street, in the Senate, in the vice-presidency and the White House. He notes that this family has never produced a doctor, judge, teacher, scholar or lawyer of note, and since WW I the family's focus has been on 3 major areas: intelligence, energy and national security, which were also 3 of the key enterprises of the American 20th century.

A revelation in the book is that one of Bush II's great grandfathers helped refurbish the petroleum infrastructure in Azerbaijan from 1922-1924 against the wishes of the State Department. Azerbaijan was one of the just-born Soviet Union's new republics in the Caucasus. Ergo, a Bush was helping to restart the economy of Lenin's "experiment."

There's a lot in this book that never saw the light of day in Bush II's run for the presidency in 2000. The book was published in 2004, but the information was there to find had anyone really worked to seek it. Phillips put it all together, but much too late.
