Subject: Let's Talk Part 15 Radio

I have been a Ham radio operator for over 10 years and earned my Associates Degree in Electronics Technology from Devry Institute in 1990. All through my childhood I was fascinated by radio and was assembling and testing out all the new fangle d transmitter kits and tech toyz. I have a full part 15 FM station setup which I have had great fun using over the years to broadcast one hour radio shows after midnight to my neighborhood. The only problem is that most of my experience is with part 15 FM instead of AM. As I have come to find out, FM is kind of a waste because you can only transmit about 300 yards legally. AM on the other hand can average 1/4 to 3 miles with a good antenna and location. I am just now getting my feet wet in the AM realm. I have assembled a Ramsey AM-1 kit as well as a Ramsey AM-25 kit, both of which I think kinda suck as far as quality is concerned. Ramsey tends to overrate their products to a fault in my opinion. I am thinking about purchasing a Vec-1290K Am transmitter kit because I heard that the quality and range are quite a bit better than anything Ramsey has to offer. I have also been considering purchasing a talking house transmitter on Ebay. A friend of mine recommended such a device for the job, and I see that it is recommended by this station as well. If you have any recommendations, give me a hollar! Check out my webpage as well. I need all the help I can get on my little project. Find out more at www.freewebs.com/franitzasab.
Thank you and God Bless!
