I am searching for my daughter who was adopted at birth without my knowledge or consent. I was 17 and the birth mother was 16 years old. The pregnancy and birth of my daughter was kept a secret and lied about for eight years; until the birth mother told me about my daughter and the adoption when I went to Washington for my grandmother funeral.

We did not receive any legal notice informing us of the biological mother's (parents) intent to place the baby for adoption. Even though, the birth mother and her family knew our home telephone number and how to get in touch with us. We found out about my daughter and the adoption when she was 8 years old

If I or my family knew the birth mother was pregnant, my parents and I would have went to Washington to get my daughter so she could have been raised by her paternal biological family. We would have assumed legal and physical custody; and, UNDER NO circumstances my daughter would have been given up for adoption if we knew about her. The loss of my beloved daughter to adoption has caused immeasurable pain and grief for our family.

My daughter is Biracial (Quadroon). I do not have much information regarding the adoption. I only have a picture of my

daughter when she was 9 months old. She looks a lot like our family and her half brothers and sisters. We do not want to intrude on her life, but rather have an invitation to get to know her and to build a strong loving relationship with her and her adoptive family.
