Our property is heavily wooded on three sides. On the left side there is a bed of periwinkle growing along the perimenter of the woods. The periwinkle was being crowded out by vines so we decided that despite the 92 degree heat that we would tackle this project on Sunday.

Both my husband and son are extremely bug phobic, so they stayed at the outer edge of the bed. I went into Xena mode and tackled the inner perimeter, pulling, cutting, and oblitering the vines.

Ummm.....it turns out that some of those vines were poison oak. My arms and legs are covered in blisters and itches like crazy. I've been taking antihistamines for the itching, and I got a perscription for prednisone. Both are relieving the itching but both those drugs get me completely wired. I've been painting doors and baseboards all day to try to work off some of this energy. The way I'm feeling I might get to sleep again sometime next week.

Actually the whole situation is pretty funny but I'm feeling really stupid. *G* I don't think I'll forget what poison oak looks like anytime soon. *G*

They say with this dry season on the West Coast everybody is adviced to trim any dry vegetation around the house to protect from wild fires.

Do you live on the West Coast?

PoisonOak. Ugh. Glad you're finding it funny in a way and don't feel dumb. This is the kind of thing that can happen to anybody and does.
