... who likes rats :) I too find them "cute" but don't want them in my house. But if I found one in my house, I would chase it away but not kill it. Nutrias are definetely cute and so are possums, which are not rodents but marsupials. When possums see you approach, they'll "freeze" and let you pet them. The reason so many of them get hit by cars is that they often freeze in the middle of the roadway upon approach by a vehicle.

Osos hormigueros are beautiful creatures. I've seen them in zoos and would love to play with one some day!

Possums are soooo cute with those big eyes!! Never saw one in real life, though :(. Poor creatures, being ran over... brrrrrr.
I know 90% of the people here and everywhere will jump all over me for this, but I find it nice that you chase the rat away from your house but that you wouldn't kill it :).

An anecdote. I once went out with a guy... it was not a date and yet he thought I was bedazzled by him (really... not!) and was playing the "macho" guy to impress me. We went for a walk by the rambla, which is a large street along the seaside, a very public place. Anyway, there there was the "Baywatch"-like case, where they keep the rescue boats and other materials locked... and a rat came out from there. The guy and I were sitting on a bench over the rambla, and the rat went straight to us and got under the bench when we were sitting.
I saw her coming and told him: "look, a big rat" and the "machisimo" guy ;) started yelling and stepped on the bench, almost crying. I couldn't stop laughing at the scene! People asked if something was wrong: I told them it was a rat, and they all couldn't understand how that big tall guy was yelling while I was so "cool" about the rat underneath us. I don't mind if people are scared of spiders, rats or dogs. It's ok either way. But it was hilarious to find the same guy who pretended to be very wild and brave, to be screaming like that at the sight of a rat.
No wonder the guy didn't brag in the way back :). That must have hurt his ego really bad.
