Some of us at Jabbok have been discussing the idea of planning a coffee house for the Barre/Montpelier area where we could invite local Christian musicians. Not sure who's visiting this forum, but would love to get feedback from anyone out there who might like to participate in any way. Just chime in here or send me an e-mail. thanks!

Update on Coffee House: I met with the Pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church in Montpelier, Mitchell Hay, and he is interested in discussing the idea of using his fellowship hall to host a Christian Coffee House. I hope to meet with him during the first part of May.

it has been over a year since the coffee house idea was first mentioned here. I believe God still wants to do something along these lines. I continue to be amazed and excited by His perfect timing in everything.

hello to Jabbok visitors and friends of Jabbok! God's blessings on each of you and to all those you come in contact with! While I may not be with the Jabbok family, in the flesh, I do extend an electronic 'hello' and hope that all is well!

As for me, I have put the Christian Coffee House on hold until God says to resurrect it, but I am happy to announce that I am partcipating in a weekly 'prayer and praise' service that I am facilitating, but believe the Spirit is leading, and is being held on Wednesday's at the Trinity, Methodist Sanctuary on Main Street in Montpelier!

We have sought the Spirit's direction and leading on our weekly time of worship and have experienced God's blessing; the Lord has given me a song, or an idea for a new song, nearly every week that we have met, since starting this past July! We have had a small core group of folks that have been in attendance and we are encouraging all who attend to come prepared to share a psalm, a hymm, and a spiritual song, as described in Paul's letter to the Corinthian's, 14:26.

I have also been participating in a weekly meeting of the All Saints Assembly, a new home fellowship in Plainfield that is hosted by Pastor and Teacher, Reggie Scott and his wife, Melanie, which has been a major blessing for me and in turn has blessed my family and all those I work and worship with. I do hope to cross paths with my old friends at Jabbok again soon and in the meantime, be well and be blessed in Jesus' name! Amen!

I read the original message not realizing it was a year old. :) I sent you an email so it might be way off base right now since your plans have delayed. But how wonderful you are still seeking God's presence and sharing his wonderful word to people! Take care! Bliss

thanks for your post, Bliss! You're right, the original post was from early in 2004. But I do believe it was a desire put in my heart by the Lord (He will give to us the desires of our hearts!). The problem, as is often the case, was that I was so eager to fulfil the desire that it became an idol. The scripture says, without a vision the people perish. I think it could also read, without a vision the desire may perish? The desire begins as a seed and if it is in keeping with the Word it will flourish with a little watering. God's will is obviously to bring His people together, but it needs to come about not by our might or by our power, by by His Spirit, says the Lord!

Actually the seed planted at Trinity, mentioned above, came to fruition this past New Year's Eve. We held a Lasagna dinner at the fellowship hall and had 5 musical acts, 3 who shared original Christian material. It was a wonderful time with many different denominations in attendance including many unchurched folk, I'm sure. $822 was raised for the church from the lasagna and it has inspired me to continue to pursue, with the Lord's leading, the Christian Coffee House idea. Praise the Lord!

hello friends,

well it is now approaching 3 years since the first post on this concept of a Christian Coffee House and while I have let go of trying to make things happen in the flesh, quite a while ago now, much to my surprise, but not really, God has been busy putting the people and all the pieces in place!! Imagine God doing that for His kids? I believe now, in the spirit that God has targeted Barre and not Montpelier as I had first pursued this. He has shown me that it will be a neutral ground without any particular denominational influence, but rather a place for The Church (the body of Christ) to come and lift up His name and where all the various flavors of His children can gather to share God's gifts and blessings!!

this is exciting folks! prayerfully consider how God may have you get involved!
