Good morning y'all! I didn't get much farther into Nehemiah today than I did yesterday, but ladies HIS WORD to us this morning is so rich. As I began reading through the prayer that Nehemiah prayed in this first chapter of the book my heart stopped me and I read it over and over again this morning. I have asked the FATHER to give me a heart as passionate as this man, Nehemiah. Let's take a look at the prayer and then I will comment.
Nehemiah 1:5-11 Then I said: "O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands, 6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father's house, have committed against you. 7 We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.
8 "Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, 9 but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.'
10 "They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. 11 O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man."
I was cupbearer to the king.
Would you take a minute and stop and really read through that prayer. Ask the FATHER to allow you to feel the passion of Nehemiah as he prayed these words. Ladies, my first thought when I began reading this was that Nehemiah was a man who believed what the Bible said about his GOD. Look at the first verse of this prayer. He said that he believed that GOD would be faithful and would do what HE said HE would do. Do you believe that? Do you know what HE said HE would do? Do you know HIS promises? Are you familiar with HIS promises? As you read on through the prayer you will discover that Nehemiah was very familiar with the promises of GOD and he called them out as he prayed. He said, O GOD, don't you remember that you said you would do this... You said that you would scatter us abroad if we were unfaithful, but you said that if we would turn back to YOU, then YOU would draw us back to YOURSELF.
Can I just stop for a second and say WOW? Ladies, this was Nehemiah's GOD, BUT HE IS YOUR GOD TOO! Think about that right now. What are you dealing with today that you need to GOD of Heaven, the Great and Awesome GOD to move into and take over? Have you brought it to HIM? Have you come before HIM lately and just poured it all out and said, O FATHER, this IS more than I can handle. I am willing to confess where I have failed and where I have sinned. Please take this and make it what ONLY YOU can. Ladies, have you come to this place in your walk with HIM? This might sound like an uncomfortable place, but can I tell you from experience that the safest place you will ever find yourself is in complete vulnerability to the LORD JESUS. When you are willing to be totally open with HIM HE will move in your life and do things beyond your wildest imaginations.
I want to quickly point out verse 9 because it is so full of hope for every believer today. "but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name."
Ma'am, wherever you find yourself this morning the FATHER has a WORD to your heart. IF YOU WILL RETURN TO ME....I WILL GATHER YOU AND BRING YOU CLOSE! Carry those words with you today. When the day becomes more than you can handle pull them back out and remember that YOUR GOD is close...HE wants to do a MIGHTY work in your life. HE want to gather you close and bring you in to dwell beside HIM. THAT IS INCREDIBLE TO ME.
I have gone to some far places and it is so cool when the FATHER calls to you and says, MY CHILD, come on back and sit beside ME.
Ladies, will you hear HIS voice today? Will you stop and listen and ask HIM to draw you close as ONLY HE can do?
Have a great day! If you are far away this morning ask the FATHER to draw you back and hold you close.
Thanks for coming today!
ONLY and ALWAYS Because of JESUS-
Vicky
