Good morning ladies. I want to share with you this morning something that I prayed before I began my time in the book of Nehemiah this morning and then I want to look at a few verses in Nehemiah with you. I asked GOD this morning to do something in my life that could only be explained as something that GOD had done. My life today, IS something that only GOD could do. Ladies, please know that I am not special, I am do not have any access that you do not have to the FATHER. I must come to HIM morning after morning, and moment after moment and ask HIM to do what only HE can do. This is the reality for any who seek to be all that GOD wants us to be. We have to come to HIM and ask HIM to do in us what ONLY HE could do. I came this morning to the 5th, 6th, and 7th chapters of the book of Nehemiah. I will focus my time with you this morning in the 6th chapter. Chapter 6 is full of opportunities for Nehemiah to get sidetracked from the work that GOD had called him to do. Many times, the opposition sent word to him to come and meet with them, but Nehemiah was resolute in his determination to do what GOD had called him to do. In verse 3 of this chapter we find the following WORDS: so I sent messengers to them with this reply, "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you." I love the King James here:
And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
Nehemiah was doing a great work...GOD had given him something to do and he realized that since it was GOD's call on his life for that time, IT WAS A GREAT WORK. Have you realized that whatever GOD has called you to for this season in your life, IT IS A GREAT WORK? Look quickly at verses 8&9 and then I want to show the key verse for me this morning...this is SO COOL!
I sent him this reply: "Nothing like what you are saying is happening; you are just making it up out of your head." They were trying to frighten us, thinking, "Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed." BUT I PRAYED, "Now strengthen my hands."
Don't you just love that. The enemy tried with all of their might to discourage and distract, but Nehemiah gives us the keys in the last two mornings to staying on task. Number one: Don't put down your sword. Number two: Don't stop praying. If you aren't praying and you aren't armed with the WORD of GOD, ladies you are in danger of distraction, discouragement, and ultimately defeat. Now let's look at the last verse for this morning, Nehemiah 6:15-16:
So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, BECAUSE THEY REALIZED THAT THIS WORK HAD BEEN DONE WITH THE HELP OF OUR GOD.
I leave you this morning with this question? Do people see the work of your GOD in your life, or do they see what you could do in your own strength?
