Praise be to the LORD, the GOD of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. Praise be to HIS GLORIOUS NAME FOREVER, may the whole earth be filled with HIS GLORY. (Psalm 72:18-19)

This is the prayer of my heart today.
I came to the WORD today and I knew that I would be coming to Psalm 42 and I sat and I thought and I prayed and I said to the FATHER, "How appropriate that you would bring me here TODAY!" I have lived in this Psalm this week and never did turn to it until this morning. I have felt a longing for GOD and a thirst that I could not quite get satisfied. I have been in a "feeling" place this week. Everything was felt very keenly. I don't know why sometimes we have these times in our lives, but I know that, particularly as women, we do sometimes get in a mode where it seems everything is driven by the way we FEEL. Let's look at Psalm 42:9-10 first this morning. I say to GOD my ROCK, "Why have YOU forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?" My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, "Where is your GOD?"
Have you felt this agony? Have you felt those days when you felt like surely GOD must have forgotten that you were HIS CHILD? It is an irrational feeling, and a totally unfounded fear, BUT LADIES, WE ALL GET TO THIS PLACE SOMETIMES. I want to encourage you, when you find yourself in a feeling place where everything hurts and you have a hard time making sense of things, turn to your FATHER. The FATHER and I have had some ABBA FATHER moments this week. I am not totally certain why, but I know for certain that this week I have been wrapped in a blanket of sadness that at times I felt I could not shake.
Look at Psalm 42:5-6 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in GOD, for I will yet praise HIM, my SAVIOR and my GOD. My soul is downcast within me; THEREFORE I will remember YOU from the land of Jordan, the heights of Hermon--from Mount Mizar.
It seems to me that the Psalmist is saying here, "OK LORD, I realize that I am feeling down and distressed and so I am going to CHOOSE to remember what YOU have done in the past for YOUR people." Ma'am, sometimes we have to simply rest in what we know in order to get through the difficult struggle of the day. Somedays, it will be too much to sit back and look at the whole day ahead; On those days we must stop our doing and our going and we must come to our knees and say, "FATHER, I am CHOOSING now to rest in who I KNOW YOU ARE. I am CHOOSING to believe YOUR WORD and rest on YOUR PROMISES even though right now I do not see it." Ladies, that is living beyond how we feel. We cannot operate based on our feelings. We MUST make a choice to believe GOD and then act on what HE says to us in HIS WORD.

I will leave you today with a thought from my Preparing Your Heart for Prayer flip chart: Thou are coming to a KING, Large petitions with thee bring; For HIS grace and power are such, None can ever ask too much.
You cannot ask GOD for something bigger than HIS ability to give it. That does not mean HE always will, but Ma'am, as you head into your weekend remember this: HE is sitting enthroned in heaven, HE longs to lavish HIS love on you. HE wants to do in and through you MORE than you ever could have imagined. Bring HIM your heart and lay before HIM your desires.

FATHER, grow us in the places where we find ourselves today. Teach us again to come and bring to YOU the hurts and pains and disappointments of our day. Teach us that we can ALWAYS come to YOU, that we can bring EVERYTHING to YOU. FATHER, get us beyond the place where we pray "safe" prayers. Grow our faith and our desire to know YOU and to see YOU do a mighty work among us. YOU are an AWESOME GOD. YOU are WORTHY OF OUR PRAISE. May we be ever praising YOU! In the MATCHLESS NAME OF JESUS I PRAY...AMEN!

Thanks for coming again today ladies. Have a wonderful weekend and know that GOD is GOD and HE LOVES YOU!

ONLY and ALWAYS Because of JESUS-
Vicky
