GOD promised Abraham that >HE was giving the land of Canaan to his descendants. >Abraham believed this promise and brought up his son >Isaac to believe it and to follow GOD. Isaac also >believed the promise and brought up Jacob to believe >it. Jacob had a bunch of messed up kids, but Joseph >believed the promises of GOD. Now years after the >original promise made to Abraham Joseph has come to >the place where he going to die. Joseph encouraged >his brothers by reminding them, "Hey fellas, don't >lose heart, GOD will surely come to your aid and take >you up out of this land to the land HE PROMISED ON >OATH to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." >In other words, "Don't worry, you can't count on GOD! >HE will keep HIS promises!" >Ladies, that is cool to me. To keep vigil means to stay awake and >observe...GOD watched as they traveled and HE kept >them safe on their journey. Can you just imagine this >scene. Stop what you are doing for a minute and just >picture ALMIGHTY GOD watching HIS PEOPLE leave out of >bondage JUST AS PROMISED THEY WOULD. >Ladies, that is cool! AND that is something that you >can depend on HIM to do in your life today. Are you >waiting on GOD to do a mighty work? Do you really >believe that HE will do it? I'm not sure that these >Israelites even remembered that GOD made this >promise...it had been quite a long time now, BUT HE >REMEMBERED that HE made the promise.
