Surprise, surprise. Kata-kata Pak Dokter, "Mahasiswa kedokteran jaman sekarang sulit untuk diajak ber-kesenian" sama persis plek paralel dengan keluhan dari Prof. Donald C. Knuth, "mbah"-nya Computer Science, yang mengajar di University of California Berkeley beberapa tahun yang lalu - mungkin sekitar tahun 2000 lalu (sayang, saya tidak punya soft copynya, mungkin masih bisa didapatkan dengan memasukkan string "Donald Knuth interview" di www.google.com).

Prof. Knuth mengeluh, "Mahasiswa (doctorate, Ph.D. students) jaman sekarang pinter-pinter tapi kok rasa seninya kurang. Mahasiswa lima tahun yang lalu selain pinter masih bisa saya ajak ber-jam session main musik : piano, terumpet, bas betot, dsb.".

Pak Dokter, apa itu artinya kita telah memasuki generasi X (generasi cuek) di Indonesia ? Kalau di Amrik sana sudah memasuki generasi Y (generasi super cuek), bahkan generasi Z (generasi super super cuek bebek) ?

Mungkin hal itu dibahas di salah satu bidang kedokteran ?
