The Ontario Hockey League's Owen Sound Attack will honour the memory of Dan Snyder by retiring his #14 before their game against the Saginaw Spirit on Friday night.

The ceremony will include appearances by Ontario Hockey League commisioner Dave Branch, Atlanta Thrashers GM Don Waddell, and the Snyder Family.

Snyder died on Oct. 5 at the age of 25 from head injuries suffered in a car wreck in Atlanta.

The native of Elmira, Ont., was selected by Owen Sound in the 1995 OHL draft. Snyder played in Owen Sound for four years, and was team captain the last two. He also was his team's nominee for OHL humanitarian of the year.

The native of Elmira, Ont., spent most of his first three pro seasons in the minors. He helped the Orlando Solar Bears win the IHL title in 2001; scored his first NHL goal on March 22, 2002, against New York Rangers goalie Dan Blackburn; and he helped the Chicago Wolves win the AHL championship that spring.
