Here is a bit of an article written in the Daily Herald about Cheli and Bert - pretty funny. Oh and some Amonte stuff too:
There's nothing like a Chris Chelios feud for a few laughs.
Chelios' target these days is Vancouver's Todd Bertuzzi, who battled the Detroit defenseman all through the playoffs last spring. Chelios and Bertuzzi got into it again last Tuesday during the Canucks' 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Red Wings.
Chelios and teammate Kirk Maltby used the occasion to verbally abuse Bertuzzi, who is listed at 6-feet-3 and 230 pounds without equipment.
"They were calling me fat," Bertuzzi said. "Can you believe that? Fat? I told them if I'm playing 25 minutes a game, how can I be fat? That wasn't too bright. I told them, 'This is the best you can come up with?'æ"
Bertuzzi had a few zingers of his own for the 40-year-old Chelios.
"I told Chelios he's finished and he should retire," Bertuzzi said. "I told him he just couldn't do it anymore. And he can't. He should pack it in. He's finished. And he didn't like that. He shot back, 'I'll outlast you.'æ"
Prior to the game, Chelios called Bertuzzi a "dirty player," but he refused to elaborate when pressed by reporters.
"What are you trying to do, get me killed?" Chelios said.
Talking Tony: If Phoenix doesn't make the playoffs, a lot of the blame is going to be put on Tony Amonte's shoulders for his failure to deliver after getting a $24 million free-agent deal last summer.
Amonte has 13 goals in 53 games and is minus-13. Five of his Coyotes teammates have more goals, including Mike Johnson (18), Daymond Langkow (15) and Ladislav Nagy (14).
There was talk of the Coyotes possibly looking to deal Amonte, but the former Hawks captain has a no-trade clause he would have to waive. He also just bought a house, once owned by golfer Phil Mickelson, in the area.
"I made the decision to come here, and I want to make it work here," Amonte said. "Hopefully, the team wants me. Until I hear different, I'm going to assume they do."
