Former NHL goalie allegedly attacks player during in-line hockey match

Dominik Hasek is under police investigation for injuring an opposition player during an in-line hockey game at Pardubice, Czech Republic Sunday.

Hasek, who played as a skater rather than a goalie, attacked and injured opposition player Martin Sila, the game's referee and executive board member of the Czech in-line hockey association, Tomas Wutherle, said.

Sila has been hospitalized at a Pardubice hospital, suffering from concussion, broken nose and neck spinal injuries.

"I have never seen such unbelievable behaviour during my 15-year career," Wutherle told the Czech news agency, CTK.

"And I would have never expected anything like that from a person of Dominik Hasek's calibre. I just can't believe it," Wutherle said.

Pardubice police are "checking whether this would qualify as a criminal offence of causing bodily harm," spokeswoman Dana Dolanova said.

In-line hockey discipline committee will review the incident within the next two weeks, Wutherle said.
