BLACKHAWKS GOALTENDER JOCELYN THIBAULT SUFFERING FROM POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME

HAWKS RECALL ANDERSSON AND ASSIGN FORWARD GARRY VALK

General Manager Mike Smith announced today that Blackhawk goaltender Jocelyn Thibault is suffering from post concussion syndrome. Goaltender Craig Andersson has been recalled from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. In another transaction, forward Garry Valk has been assigned to the Admirals (AHL).

Thibault suffered a concussion on March 9th versus the Boston Bruins. He was cleared to return to play. He is now having symptoms consistent with post concussion syndrome. Thibault will be re-evaluated in a week.

Andersson has appeared in 28 games this season with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) posting a 14-9-4 record with a 1.93 goals against average and a .919 save percentage with four shutouts. He made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks earlier this season appearing in two games while posting a 0-1-0 record with a 2.09 goal against average and a .900 save percentage. Andersson, a Park Ridge native and resident of Barrington, was the Blackhawks’ 3rd round pick (73rd overall) in the 2001 NHL entry draft.

Valk was recalled by the Blackhawks on March 11th. He was in his second stint with the club this season appearing in four games while scoring no points since his recall. For the season, Valk appeared in 16 games posting one assist and six penalty minutes.
