I'm not a Hawks fan -- but this is what was reported on TSN.ca a couple of weeks back:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=28936

The Chicago Blackhawks have dismissed Jim Jenkins, Theo Fleury's alcohol treatment sponsor and team companion.

General manager Mike Smith says he made the move last week after talking with doctors in Fleury's substance abuse program. Smith says the team concluded that Jenkins' effectiveness had come to an end.

"This companion part has gone as far as it can go as far as being a part of Theo's treatment or progress," explained Smith. "It's effectiveness has stopped. At some point, Theo has to assume some personal responsibility."

Smith added that the dismissal was not related to the January 20 Columbus strip club incident involving Fleury.

Jenkins had been Fleury's roommate on the road until recently before being replaced by an unnamed teammate. On the night of the strip club incident, Fleury left Jenkins behind at the team hotel.

Earlier this season, the two missed a team bus in Los Angeles and arrived late for a practice, blaming a confused cab driver for their tardiness.

Jenkins was reportedly being paid $200,000 by the Blackhawks to shadow and accompany Fleury this season.

Fleury has nine goals and 19 points in 34 games this season. He missed the first 25 games of the year for violating his aftercare program.
