We just returned home from a work/play trip to our outpost cabins. The work went well but the fishing went over better of course. We caught walleye and lake trout when we were fishing. During the day and mornings the walleye were about thirty-forty feet right on bottom. We were using 11/2oz glow in the dark jigs with a green mister twister tail tipped with a minnow. We also used a white spinner jig head tipped with a minnow, when they were really biting this bait caught some of the bigger walleye. Over all the white glow with the twister tail caught the most walleye. In the evening right at sunset we fished shallow off of a wead bed in about 12-15 feet of water. This produced great results and we caught many walleye, all of the females went back in and the males over 18 inches went back in as well. The prize has to go to our son Christopher who is 5. The morning we left we were trout fishing in about 35-40 feet of water. He was using one of our walleye jigs tipped with the green twister tale and minnow. He yelled at me that he had a big one on, he reeled in after about 10 min a 15 lbs lake trout. This was no small task as he wondered who was reeling who! The ice was about 3- 4 feet thick and the trout stayed hooked the whole time! A great time was had by all!
