Wow. I was expecting to read these seeing something like 'George Michael' - especially from you Steve -KIDDING! :)- but instead, damn... Tool, The Pixies, and Green Day? You all tug at the very strings of my apparently stringy heart!
The Pixies - uber-fab, by ALL means, and it's amazing how much time I invested in their music... but I don't think they qualify as the best ever, but that's soley my own opinion.
Green Day - now THERE'S invested time! Owning all CDs but one (damn you Steve!), but refusing to copy any, as I want the artwork, the input involved into the design, and I feel like a traitor... *blink*... and yet still, I don't know about best ever, but probably REALLY damn close.
Tool - w00t *falls on hands and knees and kisses her CDs* I think that sums it all up...
Thinking about this, I'm finding that the greatest song ever cannot be defined just because of changing times, but because of changing people. The song "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails used to have all the meaning in the world to me, and actually helped me get back on my feet and out of the hole that was my life of quitting jobs to shoot up meth, shoplifting anything and everything, and almost losing the people most important to me, only in TRYING to keep them by blocking out your pain... but when you almost die and realize what you would have lost...
Sorry... went into a little Christie hole of rambling *PUNT!* Dag, yo.
To me, the best song in the world is "Hurt" by NIN... but only via meaning to myself... overall, I say TOOL, huzzah!
