若果是香港開埠以來的古典詩人，可以分為兩個時期。第一期為一九四五年前的，如陳湛銓、曾克耑、熊潤桐等。而另一方面是四五年後的，如何乃文、洪肇平、何幼惠、何叔惠、李鴻烈等。
