If you don't like Special Needs, fair enough, but what is the point on coming on their forum and saying so? Quite sad really. And if you think they sound anything like The Libertines, you're obviously not listening properly.

Hello Dr Pete Gas. Welcome to the forum.
Normally I refrain from responding to messages which resort to personal assaults and sentences which end with 'fuck you', but I feel I should make a few points.

Firstly, the lyrics which you quoted are actually incorrect, although granted they are not exactly words which Betjemen would be proud of. I think if you explored our other songs a bit more you would find better examples. Motorbikin' is a throw-away song which stemmed from an old nursery rhyme me and some friends made up when we were quite young. It's a song we don't really play anymore and will not be appearing on our album. As regards being workshy, we do practice several hours every day in our Kilburn bunker so I think that is a bit wide of the mark.

Secondly, emulating The Libertines is not on our agenda. In fact The Libertines would not be on a list of bands or artists who have inspired us, even if we put 100 artists on that list. It makes me wonder just how much of our "music" you have listened to and how recent the recordings were. As I'm sure you can appreciate bands develop over time and we all feel that the upcoming album will be far more mature than the material which has offended you so much.

Thirdly, if I have offended you personally in any way by my behaviour or comments, I apologise, although I do endeavour to be friendly to everyone unless I have reason not to be. I would guess from your unprovokes rant that's not a policy you adhere to. If I have offended you by my appearance I'm afraid that's something I have little control over.

As Lurker pointed out above, I am slightly baffled why you would waste your time on the forum of a band you have such dislike for because frankly none of us have the slightest inclination to stop making music on the basis of your comments.

i've brought this up plenty, but i will say it again.. i like to think that i have decent taste in music, and i would not spend lots of money to fly overseas to see a band that was shit.

zachery is one of the nicest guys i have ever met, same goes for the rest of the band, and i will defend them to the death.

What a grubby little man, I know I�ve made some silly comments on this forum before but his were utterly bland and could be thrown at any British contempory band, it�s easy and lazy. It is quite shameful that a man of his age (how else is he able to talk of the Fall and the Birthday Party, which you do not sound like) use the chastisements of �spastic� and �retards�. I bow to the members of Special Needs and the fans whose witty, intelligent replies showed humour, maturity and dignity. So he doesn�t like you and the music, why bother this forum with his �work-shy �comments, at least you are there, doing something you are passionate about even if you sell a million or just one copy of your album. At least you have done, tried something that will have more worth, then what it would seem Pete Gas has, or will achieve in his whole life.

Who is this strange Gas chap? and has he ever heard Special Needs. They sound nothing like the Libertines, Fall, Clash or Birthday Party. Their music is the most joyful sound i've heard in ages and they all seem like thoroughly nice people.

Sure, not everyone is going to have the same likes and dislikes in something so personal as music, but what you posted here is uncalled for. It's childish and petty and the way I see it is that you're just trying to illicit a negative response from the band and their fans for some attention. People do things like this a lot on messageboards, and I've never understood it. Maybe you didn't get enough hugs when you were a kid or something.

You have every right not to like Special Needs, but really, what is the point of posting what you did? Do you think the band will have a sudden epiphany and stop creating the wonderful music that they do because you posted some insults to them? Again, I just think you're trying to stir up things and that's not very nice.

Also, Zac is one of the most pleasant and gracious people I've ever met, so I feel sorry for you if you didn't see that in him when you met him.

I can hardly bear to respond to this pointless, vacuous, distasteful drivel. It makes me sick. I cannot fathom slagging off a band on an alternative band/music message board but to write vitriolic bullshit on their own forum is not just a waste of your time and ours but shows you as no someone with far too much time on their hands and not all that much going on between the ears.

The accusations you make are utterly unfounded. I have met few people in my life as dedicated to acheiving their dream, as focussed as the 5 members of Special Needs. They work hard and produce beautiful beautiful results. There are few who would argue that Motorbikin is their finest hour, least of all themselves I think, and if that is the only song you can come up with any kind of comment on then you have clearly failed miserably to give the band the listening they deserve. Try Gloucester Road, or Convince Me, or Winter Gardens, or Tarts for size. Two of the aforementioned are b-sides and are at least good enough to be singles in their own right. Give it a go, go on! I dare you.

As to the accusation that Special Needs are 'the most deplorable bunch of retards' you have ever met, I wonder if you have ever had the pleasure of speaking to or spending time with any of them? I suspect not. For if you had you would most certainly have found that they are some of the wittiest, most intelligent, entertaining people you will ever meet. Frankly I find it impossible to see how anyone could possibly find anything at all to dislike about Zac; fine if you dont get on with the man (though that too is somewhat baffling - being one of the kindest, most gregarious people I have ever had the pleasure to know) but it is juvenile and to be honest not a little puerile to find you insulting him on his own forum.
