Subject: winter, summer, winter, summer and winter again.
Quite enjoyed sifting through the oldest messages available on this forum.
Christ. I really used to post huge, rambling messages.
Many a classic thread between band members back then.
Pub arrangements, slating of Ordinary Boys, Eric Bristow - his shoe and the chewing gum attached.
Apologies for gigs that spilled; reference to football and the likes of Paul Mariner, hungover-speed-of-thought.
Dreams of mansions, pianos and beheaded Star Wars figures. A locker full of peanuts in a crumbling building before a plane flight.
The latter days of madam palm and the asexuals, the others of roaming ads and viagra-anger.
Mid-tour reports, head-size retorts, tinhead, rainman big'ead, skipper, Zacu.
The rare Neil posts, the eBay drumsticks with signed photo of arse for a fiver.
Talk of paintball and the NME hates you (this week/print you next week), members required for farcical troupe, a talking fawn on the tube and a dog mating with a vagrant.
Should it ever go wrong... please everyone get your old desks back, we'll start as we were. Stop this doo-wop craziness. Save it for next year.
Hmm, maybe not. The passing quality at this cafe window is very high. The young ladies of Bethnal Green (and even Hackney) are obviously of a strict breeding process.
Ode to my father.
I'll never forget the time we visited my father last.
We knew there was going to be a depraved scene in his flat when we saw his dog wandering the streets outside, naked.
Bastard.
Hmm, my time's running out.
Metered access. Relatively new to me.
Doesn't suit thought. Shit to soundbites like a happy A-Level student. Hate that.
Am back to the old Douglas.
Forum confusion. Talking at the walls.
Time's running out. Off to the pub.
Same name on the tankard. Helps to remind me.
Shut-up Doug. You're talking shit again.
x

hello douglas.
yes, soon to become one of you people staring through the grimy windows of a superhighspaceinformationbyway cafe. they're to take away access at work.
goodbye offical needs board.
hello trying to get some fun from dreary publisher websites and 'the bookseller' Hot gossip! J K Rowling's written another harry potter book, it's called Harry Potter and the Magical and Slightly Philosophical Jingoist.
All you've found at the back will be gone soon Doug, it falls off the edge into internet ether as if the world were flat.

Old talk goes to a limbo where the words fall apart, paragraphs, sentences and letters are divided into 0's and 1's. It does here, anyway.
Regarding the ode to my father:
'Bastard.' is not part of it. It was an afterthought. The dog was called 'Bastard'. It was a choice of that or 'Mexico '86' - it was my dad's idea, something about 'like Lineker, he gets the golden boot'.
cold outside. my local is warmed with the blood and polyfiller of 1982's finest workmen. How they loved their radio. Re-panelled to the sounds of Fern Kinney and Toni Basil... possibly built on more earnest sounds.
Please one day people come to my local(s).
All untouched by the haircutted likes (before I roamed at a late hour upon moving here).
For anyone who does, I will buy the first then tell ghostly stories while the walls creak like The Orca.
Bring your Brody to my Quint. - Not a sexual euphemism.

It was scars.
Hooper and Quint bonding over their scars.
Hooper's scar stories were a bit rubbish.
Quint then tells the (true) story of the USS Indianapolis shark attacks. Worth looking up on the internet.
I think that was the second night they had to shoot that scene since Robert Shaw was too pissed the first time.
I love Jaws. As a toddler, my mum had a hard time getting me on the toilet or in the bath after seeing that.
Still waiting for a shark to come up and bite my stomach when I'm doing lengths of a swimming pool.
