Subject: Lost property request

A small and probably fruitless appeal for information pertaining to the theft of a cherished hat from the Foundry in Sheffield at approximately 1.30 am Thursday night.
A shame indeed. It was lovely to return to Sheffield to something of a rapturous reception amongst several hundred eager students, all of whom were not present during our time at the university. no, the closest we got was the rise of the Strokes towards our exit, and empty students discos and silly drunken evenings in front of much the same people every week. Perhaps eighties revisited nights are on the way out, replaced with guitars and the like, special indeed.
Many thanks for all those who travelled to our last gig for the foreseeable, a fine way to bow out in esteemed company,,,,,,my night is tainted however. My beloved fedora, charmed from Lady Liberty herself in the weeks running up to September 11th with a disarming wink and promises of magnificence. She gladly handed it to me via a Brooklyn Italian outfitters on Fifth Avenue, to the praise of 'its a magnificent specimen on you, take it to the motherland with care'. I obliged, and kept it with me to this day, especially useful with regard to poor hair weeks, fighting off lazy remarks of resemblance to your common trilby. no, this cannot be purchased in dirty Camden market,, please return it, villainous thief of the night, and we can still be friends, you cut me as a knife but i can heal

Aargh...I'm very sorry, for twas me that took the hat from your head and put in on Lyndsay's in the first place. Apologies, didn't realise a naughty Sheffield (presumably) scamp would then go on to steal it :(
(and hello Lyndsay)
