anyone from nottingham wanting to inform me about how safe it would be for me and my sister to be wandering the streets of nottingham until 5.30 for our train back to preston would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure we could find you some nice local sorts who would be happy to put you up in their living room until the morning. Nobody should wander round Nottingham in the wee-small hours...

My favourite band (not copunting Special Needs of course!) come from Nottingham, so I like to imagine it is populated by doe-eyed, romantic figures who look graceful with silvery grey hair.

leonora.
i grew up in a hamlet half an hours ride from Nottingham. a flood of memories, rock city kisses and trying to be Brett Anderson. what band is this. i probably didnt know them. i had no freinds really there. Six by Seven, used to talk to the guitar player in the Old Angel. Marillion are from Nottingham. Alvin Stardust went to my school. The guitarist/sax player from the wonderful Pink Grease was in my class at school and lived in the same cul-de-sac. There are few bands in Nottingham. there are not many venues for new bands to play. Rock City is runtish.Classic Britpop has been replaced by Gothic and Skater type. The Cookie Club is still the best club i've ever been, mainly because never more than fifty shamed its doors. Its been moved and turned into a flares/80s type thing.in eighteen years of nottingham I never saw one good band apart from the Sixty Foot Dolls.actually saw yatsura and marion.and blur.er placebo doesn't counbt

preston is just completely full of morons and scallies that shout abuse wherever you go... the best one was when someone shouted 'you lesbians' at me and my sister
...but in terms of venues for bands to play i guess its not so bad *cough*

I was talking of Tindersticks. But you haven't mentioned them, perhaps they came from somewhere slightly outside of Nottingham. The name itself sounds quite grand and noble- Nottingham. Or perhaps my cold medication is kicking in.
I used to love saying Urusei Yatsura too.
Well you've painted a picture for me, I think I can picture my forlorn hero fitting in there.
Thanks Andrew.
