Thanks for that article, Lynn. When gov'ts start torturing and killing journalists to silence them, it's a safe bet that democratic structures are "off the table" so to speak. I guess the gov't's promises of more democracy in Nepal are out of the realm of possibility, if this story is accurate. There will, most likely be many more thousands killed as a result of the state's "state of emergency."

When will they ever learn? Despots will use any weapons at their disposal to hold onto their power. But, oppression always results in violent revolution.

I wonder, does the US have a position on this issue? Are we supporting the Monarchy? It seems like the issue is tailor made for US policy--support despots who oppress their people just so we can eradicate communism! ;}
