Whoever told you that is wrong. The State would recognize your married husband as the father---not the donor. It's who you are married to at the time who gains recognition as the father. Therefore, it's not illegal to put your husband's name down. Married women with infertile partners go to the sperm bank all the time (or seek insemination from private sources), and always put their husband's name on the birth certificate.
