Hey Al - yeah I finally saw the movie "What We Do Is Secret" now that it's on DVD - today on Dec. 7 the anniversary of Darby's death - and I saw In Memory of Donnie Rose - and just was confused - I'm very saddened but was also dissapointed that Drew Blood's name wasn't in the 'thanks to' credits - there was a guy named Drew Black - maybe they had Drew's name wrong? I dunno...anyway - I wish I had stayed in touch with Donnie after the demise of Death Patrol...take care...

You should re-read the credits. They list Drew Black followed by DJ Bonebreak followed by Drew Blood. I thought to myself that it was interesting that they thank Drew Blood (who has been dead 10 years rather than RIP like they had with Donnie Rose. Damn, I missed Drew this year, thought about his christmas stick. And I am totally sad to read about Donnie. I mean, SAD. My mood today has gone on a total bummed level. Nice guy.

Yeah, this has had me thinking about all of the people from that period. Drew (with his dreads and doo rags), his chap books (of which I have most all in a box in a storage unit in Riverside (though I no longer live in Riverside and would not be able to find the box if my life depended on it), his obsession with Joy Division, the Stones, Patti Smith, Gun Club, Germs, ad infinitum; the Jurupa House off Riverside Place, Stacy, Miss P, Miss Timmy, Renee (Gade) who died on her way back from the Queen concert, and of course Donnie, about whom the original thread started, and the time we watched porn, the time we (Donnie, Drew, P, and I) went to see Exene at the UC Riverside, the time Donnie and I watched porn, the time we (Donnie, Drew, P and I) went to see the Bowie concert at Dodger Stadium and he was completely drunk and disorderly from the bottle he bought in Chinatown en route, etc. Damn, he was only 18 when Darby died after being "with" him for 5 years. I have been in a sad slump for days now. Dead from AIDS! I would understand the overdose, as he shot up, but I didn't know about the HIV. Could have been related, I guess. Sad.
