Subject: racking horses

what is a racking horse? what speed do they travel?
are they a saddlebred? where do I find information about them?

in louisiana we call them a single foot horse. speeds can vary between 10mph to 40mph in gait, depending on comformation and breeding. its not so much the breed of horse as it is the gait. some are twh, some are standardbred,saddlebred, spotted saddle horses, some are twh crossed with thourghbred or quarter horse, thw crossed with standard breed, and so on. so some are pure bred some are not. the gait is what make this horse a breed to its self. to many folks this the ultimate horse, and i guess to me too.
