Desolate, lonely, a wind blows the across the dried ground, some of the dust taking to air. A strange moon hangs in the sky, alighting the entirety of the area with a gray tone. Feeling much like a gravesite, the Devi Plains aren't traveled often, and tend to be an area of illusion. Watch your step, for while the beasts here aren't always as strong as those in the devi woods, their trickery knows no bounds.

Sunrise smiled. She looked around her, scanning the Plains with both eyes and ears. The youma Sonar had pointed to didn't look like it had too much in the way of mobility. Sonar had said it was a young youma, maybe it was just being inexperienced.

Sunrise's black wings spread to their maximum span (about 12 feet from wingtip to wingtip) and a black feather, ready to be shed (like a bird, she molts the feathers and regrows them, but not all at once.) and dislodged by the movement of the wing. She took a few running steps, and her wings caught the wind and she started flying. She flew in circles for a few moments, using the warm air currents rising from the barren land of the Plains to gain altitude. She saw Obsidian and Sonar far below and was tempted to spit on Obsidian.
"No, some other time." she said to herself.

Once she had gotten high enough, she folded her wings and dove. She descended quickly, opening her wings and gliding towards the youma. It slashed at her with a branchlike paw. She had expected that, and turned quickly and dodged it. The youma roared with frustration, having only gotten one of Sunrise's feathers. It turned, and started running towards her. Sunrise did a 180 degree turn and flew back towards it. She halfway extended the blade on her right arm so that it stuck out at a 90 degree angle to her arm (normally it lies in a straight line, whether extended or swung back). She came in low, and her blade cut through the youma as she flew by it. The youma roared as both of the legs on the right side of its body were cut off. It collapsed, but still tried to rise. Sunrise turned around and flew back towards it. The youma roared and tried to rise. Sunrise was about to strike the crystal on the top of its head to finish it off when a chorus of screeches rang out from the forest nearby. Sunrise flew higher and spun around, and watched as several winged black shapes came out of the trees and headed straight for her. They were predatory youma, drawn by the sounds of the battles on the plains. Devi Senshi or youma, to them flesh was flesh and everything was a potential meal. The bird youma spotted Sunrise in the air first, and all three of them started flying towards her. They reached her surprisingly fast, and she folded her wings and avoided the foremost of the pack. She dove straight down, followed by the youma, and pulled up at the last moment. The first of the bird youma was so focused on Sunrise that it was not able to react in time, and it smashed itself into the ground. It died on impact, but the two behind it were able to avoid meeting the same fate. One of the two remaining bird youma landed next to its dead companion and started to feed on the carcass. The remaining one was too excited by the hunt, and continued to follow Sunrise. She flew effortlessly, turning around and flying past the youma, which screeched at her. She flew higher and higher, the youma following at a distance. She turned completely around and dove down at the youma, swinging her blades into full attack position. She crossed paths with the youma, and moving at a speed at the very limit of the human eye (That is, so fast that Sonar and Obsidian's eyes would be barely able to see her. It's one of my favorite anime cliches, "moving so fast you can't be seen") she struck the bird Daimon multiple times, slicing it into pieces and killing it (This type of youma are fairly easy to kill). Sunrise swooped down and fle over to the first youma she attacked, which was still alive but silent and unable to stand. It tried to lash out with a branchlike paw, but Sunrise sliced it off and drove her blade into the crystal on its head, killing it, too. She flew back towards Sonar and Obsidian and landed. She looked at the third of the bird youma, which looked at her for a moment. However, it did not attack her. The slain youma were more appetizing (and less dangerous) to it, so it did not want to take its chances with Sunrise. Sunrise's mouth curled into a wicked smile.
"Flaming Beak!" she said coldly, as a bird's head composed of fire flew at the youma, which the youma noticed too late. It was obliterated. Sunrise turned back to Sailor Sonar.
"That's how you kill youma." she said.

[[Well...because *I'm* bored and want a piece of the action...perhaps *this* is what a one-sided youma battle should look like?]]

He was hearing strange sounds again. When the bothersome and creepy noises didn't cease, he turned his head slightly, only to see a very strange creature advancing upon him...and advancing fast.

He only got a brief look at it, but from what he could tell, it was canine-ish, like a small wolf, but not quite.

He made a slight grunt as he swiftly rolled to the side, dodging the beast's razor sharp claws, for the most part, though he recieved a nasty gash across his chest. He put a hand to the wound and frowned. It's not too deep... he thought to himself, taking his hand away from the wound and using it to balance himself, as he was positioned in a pseudo-runner's stance.

He looked up at the beast, who was roughly thirty or so feet away from him. It wasn't very large, possibly only six feet long, head to tail and maybe two feet tall at the shoulder. However, he already could tell that it used speed as it's primary weapon, coupled with very nasty looking mouth full of teeth, many of them three inches long if not longer, and the troublesome claws he had already had the "pleasure" of meeting. It growled at him, opening it's mouth to display a strange red orb at the back of it's throat. What the Hell is that... he thought. He smiled inwardly and smirked. Well, lucky for me, I'm one fast bastard...this thing isn't going to find me such an easy lunch! he thought, tensing as he saw it speed forwards towards him again.

Obsidian swiftly pulled three daggers from his boot and prepared himself for the attack. He expertly threw one of the dagger's at the beast to slow it down and smiled as he saw the silver blade hit home in the monster's forehead. However, his joy was fleeting. Though it did, indeed, slow the beast down, it also split it into two seperate monsters. The wolfish things circled him slowly, licking their chops as they eyed him.

"This is just what I needed today..." Obsidian mumbled, keeping both monsters in his sights.

With a great burst of movement, both of them lunged at him. He ducked the onslaught of the first one, beginning to run away to a safer distance. He knew that distance would be to his advantage, as he would be able to use his daggers against them. Their weak spot! he thought to himself, remembering when the beast had growled at him. It must be in their mouths behind all those teeth! That's what that red orb thing must have been! If I get them there, it should kill them...or...it could make them split again...well, I'll give it the old college try...

He gritted his teeth as his great plan was cut short. He looked back only to see that one of the wolves had caught him by the leg. He made a noise of pain, but cut himself off abruptly in a choked gasp as the thing sank its teeth all the way through his calf.

Obsidian suddenly smiled, seeming to become a different person entirely. "IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO????" he yelled, grabbing his dagger and ramming it into the foul beast's throat, aiming for the orb he had seen. "BETCHA WISH YOU HADN'T GOTTEN SO CLOSE TO ME!!! MAYBE YOU SHOULD WATCH WHAT YOU EAT, NE????" He laughed maniacally, seeming to be immune from the immense pain he had felt earlier, and pushed the dagger in the monster's throat to the hilt, smiling as the monster fell limp and let go of his leg.

He turned around to look at the other one and grinned. It looked kind of stunned, possibly wondering what had just happened. After all....LUNCH had just killed his doppleg�nger...and that, somehow wasn't right. It then gathered it's wits and growled at the annoying lunch, as if to say 'well, now there's more for me!'.

Obsidian laughed as the monster rushed him with amazing speed, obviously not scared in the least. He rolled onto his side as the second monster approached him, good leg tucked to his chest. As the beast came into kicking range, he swung his leg out with all his might, kicking right through the monster's fangs, heel smashing the red orb. He smiled again as the monster fell limply to the ground and stood up, putting slightly more weight on his leg that hadn't been chomped on.

"Nasty things..." he muttered, dusting his hands off on his now blood soaked jacket. He walked back over to Sonar with a barely noticable limp and arched a brow. He knew that she would have been able to hear the monsters....was she testing him?

he seemed quite unphased by the overall creepyness of the place they had been led to, more curious than anything.

"Fascinating..." he muttered under his breath. "I've seen this place...in my dreams..." he said, looking around. "...or something similar...."

He stepped closer to Sonar, being wise enough to heed her advice. She didn't speak unless absolutely necessary, so he was keen to listen to the things she *did* say.

It was very barron of life, and rather creepy. A chilling wind swept pass, tosseling hair unded the moon's cold stare. "This is where we will be training. Do not stray from my side, for while the beasts here aren't as raw in strength, they have developed illusion powers in order to survive where there is no where to hide."
