Am I the real dave wakeling? I ask myself that a thousand times a day!

I think The Beat was "officially" a Baggies band, although I myself came from a Vile family, and had supported The Wolves for a while in Derek Dougan days. In the days of Cyril Regis and Laurie Cunningham it was a natural match up, the team coming on to Harry J and the All Stars and all. We even wore West Brom away strip for a Charity game at their ground, Pop Stars, Pro's, and Prats! A couple of O.G's still follow them I believe.

Living in LA, I don't follow our team, The Galaxy, because they suck, overly analytical, like everything is a set piece. I do like DC United, and as we get a different
League every day on Cable, I cherry pick between Santos, Corinthians, Roma, Juventus, Valencia, Bordeaux (!)PSV and BMG. And I watch 2 games and the highlights of the Premier on Sundays. As you have to watch what you're given, you have to admire how Chelsea and Everton have developed as teams, nice to see Arsenal and Man U have to fight for it a bit, Blues and Vile was great football, Blues and Baggies not so scintillating.

As the teams become more international, I think the notion of national loyalties becomes even more out of date. I'd like to see a tournament between the various leagues, Premier vs La Liga vs Bundeslig vs MSL vs Serie A etc etc. I think this would contrast the various styles that make the game so exciting, more than the National squad system currently does.

Happy Solstice, and on your head!

Dave
