Subject: RE: Rock The Casbah

Lesley is correct in that the Beat never recorded "Rock
The Casbah". But while on tour with the Clash (Combat Rock
Tour) a "version" side was supplied to Ranking Roger who
did a toast, thus the Beats version if you will. There
are at least two takes. One which was broadcast on the
old "Reggae Beat" on KCRW in Santa Monica one Sunday after
the host received a cassette copy from Roger. The word was it would be released, but as things go sometimes, it never happened. I'm sure there's more to the story. Roger!?!
