People speak with more clarity down south - you can generally understand every word they speak (although i can't stand the way people speak in Essex). Up here it takes a fair while to get used to all the Yorkshire words and then there's the almost impossible accent to try and fathom. I'm from the West Midlands so i'm neither a northerner or a southerner. At least things are much cheaper up here - especially the beer.
