Gigs for Hull Bands .. Bands wanted.

As a big thank you to all the bands that played our J.E.E.P nights at the Piper last year, the H.C.M.C crew have persisted in finding an opportunity, well an excuse actually to thank all the local bands that have managed to get up off their arses and entertain us all in the various Pubs clubs and venue’s throughout Hull. An as ever sticking with the Robin Hood mentality of robbing from the rich to give to the needy, ( from the Governments coffers to the local bands etc.) the H.C.M.C crew have spent the past 6 months finding funding to put on a big summer ‘Live music party’ for you all an’ this is the score ... hope you dig it an will get involved.

Outdoor music festival Sunday 6th July 2003 ( Pickering Park.. )

We have managed to find limited sponsorship funding from various sources that will enable us to provide the following for an ‘indoor-outdoors’ live gig in the Park:-

Massive 100ft by 50 ft marquee able to contend with over 500+ bods seated at tables (tables ain't gonna happen tho’ well not at the front anywhoo! )

Substantial raised staging area. (10mtres x 16metres)
8 K Concert P.A system with comprehensive 3 way monitoring.
Comprehensive Lighting system
Attached band hospitality area with food and beverages of all types.
Press & radio & local T.V ‘event’ coverage.
Posters flyers to distribute to the masses.
Bands providing a ‘A shit hot day of great music.’
The Park.
Park rangers.
Extra professional Security services.
Fun fair.
Lotsa clothes stalls etc.
Novelty entertainment.
Munchies stalls.

This all-dayer is to start at around 1pm and last until 9pm in the early evening.
We have an idea to have it as a Indy-Nu Metal-*Indy poppy Punk (*if there is such a thang?) & Ska.
Headliners are confirmed as The Supertones who will have a special guest appearance from the mighty Bad Manners front man Buster Blood vessel who will be joining the Supertones for a few numbers !!!

Crowroad is another confirmed band who have expresses an interest in playing at the fest, hailing from the South east (Ipswich to be precise..) they are a real cool act,so please check out their website to get the gen on what they are all aboot! www.crowroad.com

Ex CLEVAWIDGER front dood ‘Dave the rave’ has also been putting together his new as yet untitled band and will be playing a set at the Fest. Being involved in the production of his latest mini album all i can say is Holy cahoooners!!!!! this band is sheer-controlled-musical-bedlam. To explain what it sounds like you’d have to put on a mad playstation driving simulator sound track and have Linkin park fronted by ex Faith no more front man play heavy melodic choruses in between the sequences .. the best head bobber i have heard in a long while .. Nuff said!

Some of the Bands who i think would best suit the day would be the following ( cos ive seen you play :-))

The Senses (gis a bell Matt !)
The Favours (You too Martin !)
The Sonnet.
The Edible five foot smiths ( pleaze Matt )
The Cumshots.
Freaks Union.
Dumpvalve.
Hooker.
& last but not least Whizzwood ( come on Dan say you’ll do it )

Please note, Sets are to last 30 mins to 45 mins.
Drum Kit. To save changeover times, hassle to the bands & ultimately get the best sound ( setting up kit Gates comps etc ..) A very nice £2000 Hand crafted Tama star classic will be made available to all bands ( as per usual bring your own Snare, Cymbals, Hats ‘n’ stand, Kick pedal & sticks tho’. )

Local fanzines should also get in touch (Glammage etc ..) it would be a great opportunity to promote your mags & pick up some tasty interview opps with the bands .. also give us a good chance to knock heads an talk about things for the future with regards the local music scene.

Alan Raw and Raw Talent.
If you are getting this e-mail Alan how about getting in touch so we can work out if you & Aunty BEEB could do anything to help ? Broadcast etc?

Please get in touch Hull 899801 ask for Marshy or leave a message or
E-Mail us at marsh@creative-music-complex.org
Please bear in mind Poster design and print start soon so please respond a.s.a.p.

If your not mentioned on the list and are in a band please also get in touch to give us your details as we have have many more interesting gigs lined up for the future, that is if you don't make it on this billing that is.

Ta Ta.

Marsh
