>I figured that my Spazz comment might elicit the response it got, though i was just expressing an opinion, but what is irritating is the automatic stereotyping of what i am or like. Punk rock is Punk rock and though we don't(nor should we) all like the same thing, Why is it neccessary to create all these sub divisions. And incidentally i don't like the older punks doing the whole "back in the day" thing as if it wasn't for the resurgence of interest in punk rock in the early 90's then many of the bands i grew up listening to wouldn't be playing and getting new audiences, neither would the opportunities for some fantastic punk rock music have existed.
I have had a mohican on numerous occasions in my life and that is because i wanted to have one at the particular period in my life, and i cut them off just as soon as i grow them, i am not just an "image" and refute that suggestion, but that is down to lazily looking for something to target in order to elicit a response. Why is it felt neccessary round these parts to round on which sub division anyone belongs to Rather than just sharing punk rock experiences.
In a slight change of track, I was discussing the starting of a Punk rock night for ALL strands of punk, with someone recently, in reaction to the stale state of affairs of the "alternative" scene in Hull. I feel that there are precious few opportunities to go out and hear some music i want to hear/mix with like minded people and therefore, as a large number of you actually do,end up either going to or considering going to the existing boring nights(i shall not single anyone particular night out but everyone knows where i mean), Which is very frustrating. I get greeted by surprise sometimes when out flyering when i say i am not going in to a particular club, but if i am not really getting what i want from it why should i go and perpetuate the status quo. Surely the ethos of Punk is to go and do it yourself(as some people are rightly doing....Harry/Darren)if you are not happy(something i have been doing for many years, and sadly, due to the commercialisation and dumbing down of my favourite musical genres often meet with great indifference). As a footnote to this little piece, if there is anyone who would be interested in having a regular punk night somewhere then show your interest and if there is enough maybe we can sort something out.
