Hey, this is Jennifer. Welcome to my new forum!

My seven-year old daughter Racheal and I are going to be walking in the Multiple Sclerosis Walk April 13th, 2003 in Greensboro! This event will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. We are walking in this walk in honor of my mother, Arnetta Schulz, who has Multiple Sclerosis.

Would you like to join my walking team? Go to:
Jen's Team

We are also accepting donations for this event. Any amount is welcome, and all donations are tax deductible. You will recieve a receipt for your donation. Send your check or money order written to National MS Society, c/o Jennifer Medlock P.O. Box 49135 Greensboro, NC 27419

Please read on to find out why it is so important.

Mother’s story
My mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis around the age of 40 while living in Greensboro. She is now 56 and currently lives in Florida. My mother first found out that she had MS after several tests by her doctor. At the time she was working as a nanny. One day while she was filling the dishwasher in her client’s home, she tripped over her foot which caused her hand to get pierced by a plastic dishwasher spike. Mom was brave and didn’t make a sound because she did not want the little girl she was caring for to cry. I do not remember how long the doctor took to diagnose her, but MS is a hard disease to diagnose because everyone’s MS experience is different.

Symptoms
My mother’s symptoms include increased tiredness and walking difficulties. Her foot became unresponsive to what she wanted it to do. It remained limp and did not lift up while she walked, caused by a disruption in the ability of her nerves to send signals to her foot. Mom doesn't walk much now. She is still more fortunate than my Uncle Mike, who became severely disabled and could barely talk. I don't really know how he is now since my aunt divorced him years ago (as you can tell it can wreak havoc on the family).

Help find a cure!
There is still much we don’t know about MS. There is much speculation about its causes, but this still remains a mystery as well. MS sufferers are still waiting for a cure, and your donation will help support MS research. Some of the funds will also go toward programs for local MS sufferers. The MS Society regularly holds support groups, workshops, helps educate others about MS, and so much more.
