I just sold a set of seventies (I think) vintage Grainger and Campbells. The buyer sent me an email telling me that the silver is actually silver plate over brass. The fittings are all hallmarked D&N and have the stamps to indicate that they are from Sheffield and marked for 1965/66. Did D&N every do silerplated mounts, and - if they did - they shouldn't be hallmarked should they? I am not sure what is going on here. They other conclusion that I can reach is that some of the fittings may have been gold-washed at some time, and some residue may still be in place. Any ideas???

I don't think Dalman and Narborough would ever send out silver plated fittings with their hallmark. It is an ethical company, and it would also be against the law.
