It probably isn't so much the boat as it is the paddler. There is whitewater, but it is mostly class II. There are some places that require maneuvering but there is always a sneak line to every rapid. A paddler who is comfortable with maneuvering in class II whitewater would have no problem in a rec kayak. If on the other hand, you have no experience with Class II then it would not be a good place to learn in a rec kayak. Part of the problem is the inaccessability. Although it passes near roads, there are several places where if you dump, you are going to have a long wet walk.

If the water permits, the club will be sponsoring one or more trips on the middle stony from Hooversville to Holsopple later this spring. When this happens we will have some experienced paddlers along to show you the lines. Keep checking the website.
